Me: You guys don't even know who Caitlin is.
Other Mom: Turn off that music. I told you not to play that again.
(Pretty sure it was Kanye.)
Emily: Please. Please. Can we?
(Kids turn off Kanye and put on "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting. Those cats were fast as lightning.")
Emily: Please.
Me: OK. You guys can see her room for one minute.
Friends: Yay!
Emily: Who is that girl? (pointing to lifesize poster)
Me: Gwen Stefani and No Doubt.
Emily: What songs does she sing?
Me: Hey Baby. Just a Girl.
(blank stares)
Emily: Where's Caitlin's bed? Where does she sleep?
Me: Well, sometimes on the futon and sometimes in the other room.
Emily: Caitlin has TWO rooms. Are you kidding? What other songs does she sing?
Me: Harajuku Girls
Friend: Oh I love Harajuku.
Me: She has Harajuku shoes by Gwen. Do you want to see?
Friends: OH MY GOSH!
Me: OK. You stay here and I'll get them.
(I go to my closet. Turn around.)
Me: I told you guys to stay in Caitlin's room.
Emily: Oh My Gosh. Are these all Caitlin's shoes?
Friends: Oh My Gosh. Look at these. Can we try these on?
Me: OK. Everyone out. Put the shoes back. Out.
Emily: Can I see Caitlin's brother's room?
Me: No. Come on. Emily, get out of John's .... OK. Just for a minute.
Friend: That girl in the picture is in her underwear.
Me: That's a famous painting by Thomas Hart Benton.
Friend: No it's not. She's in her underwear. (I'm thinking her mom is the Not-A-Kanye-Fan.)
Me: OK. Everyone outside.
Me: OH MY GOD.
